Hi Writing Studies Friends,
Happy Community College Month! If you are joining us in Baltimore, the Two-Year College English Association (TYCA) has a full week of activities planned. If you can’t attend TYCA and CCCC this year, announcements and resources will be available through the TYCA listserv during the week and after the conference. To join the listerv and google group, submit a request that states your name and institution. TYCA activities and membership are open to all members of the NCTE College Section regardless of institution type.
During the opening session of the TYCA Conference on Wednesday, you will have an opportunity to learn about ways to actively engage in TYCA and NCTE. You will also participate in activities connected to the conference theme, "Politics and the English Language." During our roundtable networking event, you can bring a lunch and meet with TYCA members to join or learn about a TYCA network, our yearlong seminars, and our TYCA DEI Committee. In the keynote session, you will hear from award-winning author Danielle Evans. The closing session will bring together learning from throughout the day and launch our preparation for the 2026 National Conference in Cleveland. The day will end with an opportunity for attendees to connect with and/or join their TYCA regional association.
For the remainder of the week, TYCA leaders worked with Kofi Adisa, the CCCC Conference Chair, to create a full schedule of sessions for faculty and program coordinators at open-admissions institutions and graduate students. We also welcome anyone who works with students from diverse student populations in their first two college years and faculty who want to develop or strengthen partnerships with community colleges. You can access the schedule through this document: TYCA at CCC: Open Access Literacy Education Sessions. To find these sessions in the CCCC conference program, search for TYCA.
Three sessions will be held concurrently with the TYCA Conference on Wednesday. Anyone who has registered for the TYCA Conference and/or CCCC Convention can attend these sessions for free. If you are attending a half-day session at CCCC instead of the TYCA Conference, please join one or more of these activities. They are listed at the end of this message.
I’m looking forward to gathering with you this week.
