Dear Colleagues,
We invite you to join the Untenured and Alternative-Academic WPA Standing Group for our events this week at 4Cs in Baltimore:
Thursday, April 10th – 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM EDT (Meeting Room 339)
Untenured and Alternative-Academic WPA Standing Group
Business Meeting: All who do WPA work are welcome!
- We’ll share the purpose and focus of our group, have a robust discussion about how, as NTT/AltAc folks, our job descriptions and job responsibilities often get remixed, develop strategies for how we can track and share the a-sides and b-sides of our work, and we’ll nominate and vote on a new secretary for the Executive Committee of this Standing Group. We hope you’ll consider joining the executive team!
- If you aren’t able to join us on April 10th but still wish to connect with the group, send LewEllyn Hallett (lhallett) an email and we’ll add you to our member list.
Friday, April 11th – 2:00 PM – 3:15 PM EDT (Meeting Room 317)
Our Collaborative Mixtape of Alternate Tracks: the Untenured and Alternative-Academic WPA Standing Group Sponsored Panel
Panel Presentations and Discussion
- Five panelists share collaborations, anthems, and B-sides of WPA work off the tenure track followed by an untenured respondent whose success and professional fulfillment shows how harmonious such a position can be.
The Untenured and Alternative-Academic WPA Standing Group is dedicated to supporting tenure-track, non-tenure-track, staff, term lecturer, adjunct, or graduate student WPAs who administer any type of writing program.
This Standing Group aims to support WPAs who seek:
- A network of colleagues with similar experiences, needs, and challenges;
- Advice on managing institutional, programmatic, professional, and personal issues;
- Support in advocating for one’s personal and professional needs;
- Direction for facilitating programmatic and institutional change; and
- Guidance on finding and preserving balance among the demands of producing quality research, exemplary teaching, outstanding leadership, and a happy and productive personal life.
Please forward this information to all who may be interested in participating.
With warm wishes,
The CCCC Untenured and Alternative-Academic WPA Standing Group Executive Committee
