Hello WPA-GO!
I’m writing with a reminder the WPA-GO Leadership Council (LC) is accepting nominations for leadership positions through Friday, June 27th. If you are interested in nominating yourself and have obstacles to meeting this due date, please let us know!
See the Call for Nominations.
We were happy to host two information sessions about serving on the leadership council and I wanted to share a couple of the frequently asked questions:
What is the time commitment like for serving on the Leadership Council?
This depends a lot on your interests and position type! General LC members each chair or co-chair a committee and we recommend committees meet at least once a semester and at most once a month. If you’re feeling ambitious, your committee could take on any number of projects, or you could focus your efforts on one. We estimate the vice chair and chair spend about eight hours a month managing WPA-GO business, and general LC members may spend about four hours a month.
How can I get involved with WPA-GO if I’m not ready to serve on the LC?
Join a committee! If you want to get a taste for WPA-GO, we have five committees that coordinate our organization: Mentoring, Digital Presence, and the Inclusion Advisory Collective including Diversity, Accessibility, and Outreach committees. You can read more and submit an interest form on our website.
See the Call for Nominations.
If you have additional questions, please reach out! We look forward to reading your materials!
Sincerely,
Taylor
