Assistant Professor in Communication, Department of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences, Illinois Institute of Technology
The Illinois Institute of Technology Department of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Communication as well as the Director of Writing Across the Curriculum, ideally starting Fall 2025. Qualified candidates will have a Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition, or a related field. Additional experience in Communication Across the Curriculum (CXC) and/or Writing Center Administration is especially welcome. The standard teaching load for this position is four courses a year for research-active faculty and one course release and one month summer salary for administrative duties.
This is an exciting time to join Illinois Tech. The university is revising its undergraduate core curriculum, moving into online education, opening new branch campuses in India, China, and Kazakhstan, and we are expanding our global footprint even more. We are looking for a dynamic and innovative collaborator to direct our CXC initiatives, which includes the Writing Center, our Distinguished Communicator Medal, and our graduate Summer Institute in Writing. We are looking for someone to help us reimagine what writing pedagogy is in an era of assistive writing technologies, such as generative AI.
