WAC Colleagues:
Are you searching for a new approach to writing groups, writing support, or writing-related professional development for faculty and graduate students? A book that is grounded in research but also short, accessible, and interactive?
My latest book, Writing Rediscovered, is based in research but centers around accessible stories and threshold ideas about writing. It invites readers into a set of reflections and activities to help them reset their relationship with writing. This is a trade book, not an academic book, and written to be accessible to a wide variety of readers.
The book is organized around 9 threshold concepts about writing and is intended to be read slowly over time–perfect for a writing group or faculty development series. It ends by asking readers to apply what they have learned and fill their "process toolbox.”
The book will be released at the end of September, but here are two special offers if you want to plan ahead:
-
Faculty development leaders who pre-order 10 or more books by Sept 1 will receive a discount through this link: https://promo.porchlightbooks.com/pages/promotions/writingprogram
-
I will do a 30 minute zoom with the first ten programs that pre-order books through this link, at a time of your choosing in either fall 2025 or spring 2026. To take advantage of this, just send me the receipt when you order from Porchlight using the link above.
The book is also available for pre-order via the usual booksellers, if you aren’t ready to commit to a bulk order.
If you are interested in using the book for a course, Wiley has a course adoption program that I can share with you–although it may be easier and slightly cheaper to order online.
Thanks for considering! For a very long time I’ve been exhorting us to share what we know "beyond the wall," and this is my first effort to do so in book form. I hope you enjoy it and find that it supports your programmatic efforts! I look forward to hearing your feedback.
