This collaborative talk presents findings from an international research project investigating virtual reality as a tool for writing in courses and professions. Through mixed-methods research, the team examined how writers adapt to immersive technologies and reflect on the embodied nature of composition. Our research suggests that a productive pedagogical approach to incorporating technologies such as VR involves understanding its unique affordances rather than expecting the tools to replicate familiar writing practices. For AWAC members, the team aims to generate a conversation about the pedagogical potential of VR in WAC programs and accessible concerns associated with immersive technologies.
