GradSchool: MA in Rhetoric & Writing Studies at SDSU- Info Session 11/7

Dear colleagues,

San Diego State University is now accepting applications for Fall 2026 admission to our MA in Rhetoric and Writing Studies program. The deadline is February 1, 2026.

We’re also hosting a virtual information session for prospective students on Friday, November 7, at 12 p.m. (Pacific Time). Register here for the Zoom link.

Our program offers:

  • Three specializations: Teaching of Writing, Professional Writing, and Rhetoric and Writing

  • Paid opportunities: Students can teach in our lower-division writing program, tutor in the Writing Center, or work in our embedded tutor program

  • Funding: TAs receive a stipend and half-time tuition waiver

Students in the MA program will:

  • Build expertise in rhetoric, professional communication, and composition theory and pedagogy

  • Collaborate with faculty in diverse research areas including composition, professional writing, writing center studies, sustainability, and cultural, digital, multimodal, and gender rhetorics

  • Develop critical practices in digital, visual, and written communication
