Job: Assistant Professor of Composition and Rhetoric, Hartwick College

Hi folks,

I’m writing to share that my institution, Hartwick College, is hiring an Assistant Professor of Composition and Rhetoric. The posting is available here: https://hartwickcollege.applytojob.com/apply/Peftc8sz7M/Assistant-Professor-Of-Composition-And-Rhetoric.

The Department of Literature, Media, and Writing at Hartwick College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor starting in August 2026, pending final administrative approval. We seek candidates with expertise in First-Year Writing, with preference given to those with additional background in Multilingual Writing Pedagogies, Media Studies, and Technical Writing. Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in Composition & Rhetoric, English, Applied Linguistics, or a closely related field by the time of appointment. ABD candidates with exceptional experience in teaching first-year writing will be considered. Specific teaching assignments will include College Writing and Co-requisite College Writing, with the possibility of other courses in rhetoric and composition based on areas of expertise. Teaching load will average 20 semester credit hours or their equivalent per academic year, and all faculty members teach during the College’s distinctive four-week January Term. The successful candidate must be committed to excellence and innovation in undergraduate teaching. Tenure-track faculty are expected to actively engage in scholarly or creative activities. Committee service, including campus wide and departmental governance, and academic advising are expected for re-appointment, tenure, and promotion.

Please share with others who might be interested.
