Hi Folks,
I’m pleased to announce the launch of a new interview series at the WAC Clearinghouse. The Emerging Voices Series, a collection of interviews from scholars who are currently making and remaking the field of writing studies broadly conceived, is designed to continue preserving the stories of our field, particularly as they pertain to the writing and writing processes of the teachers, researchers, and scholars who make up our discipline. Edited by Zak Muñoz, the series provides insights into the embodied experience of writing in our discipline, guiding newcomers as they seek to make a home in the field and providing information about new and potentially critical developments in writing studies.
You can find the series at https://wacclearinghouse.org/media/interviews/emerging-voices/. The first seven interviews feature Shuvro Das, Beth Davila, Genie Giaimo, Mandy Olejnik, Marie Pruitt, Kimberly Thomas, and Annette Vee. Nearly a dozen more interviews are in the editing stage. We look forward to releasing them in the coming months.
We are inviting nominations for interview candidates. We are also piloting two additional interview series. The Featured Scholars Series focuses on scholars who have made significant and enduring contributions to WAC and, more broadly, to the field of writing studies. The WAC Oral Histories Project focuses on scholars who have made—and in many cases are continuing to make—significant and enduring contributions to WAC. It is designed to preserve the stories of our field, particularly as they pertain to work that took place during the first decades of the writing across the curriculum movement. We are also seeking nominations for inclusion in these series. You can find all three series on the Media pages on the Clearinghouse website (https://wacclearinghouse.org/media).
Thanks to Zak for his continuing leadership on this project and to all the individuals who have contributed over the past few years to envisioning our media projects and getting them off the ground. In addition to Zak, I’m particularly grateful to Ann Blakeslee, Rebecca Hallman Martini, Lee Nickoson, Thomas Polk, Chris Thaiss, and Terry Meyers Zawacki.
All the best,
Mike
