Hello everyone! Please share this publishing opportunity with your students!
The RhetTech Editorial Board invites undergraduate students to submit their work to RhetTech, James Madison University’s undergraduate journal for student work in writing, rhetoric, and technical communication. Undergraduate students of all levels are eligible and encouraged to submit their work. You can learn more about RhetTech and view the most recent volume (Volume 7) here: https://commons.lib.jmu.edu/rhettech/.
For Volume 8, we are creating an issue centered around reminiscing and reflecting on the world we live in, while at the same time imagining our future. We have two main themes for this issue, inspired by the paths of life: looking at nostalgia and looking at the endless possibilities the future holds.
1. Nostalgia
Undergraduate students are invited to curate multimodal pieces looking at their past from either a rhetorical or technical communication lens—tracing back on students’ intellectual, personal and generational growth. The submissions should include sensory details of past experiences, incorporate rhetorical strategies to engage readers, and transform a memory into the present.
2. Looking Into the Future
While some may choose to look at the past, and evaluate different experiences, eras, and studies—we, in addition, are asking undergraduate students to take a look into what’s next for the future—endless possibilities, new innovations, and emancipatory futurity. We encourage students to look for recent research developments that could chart possibilities towards new paths of rhetoric and technical communication to ensure future growth in our field.
Together, these two themes offer the opportunity to think critically and imaginatively about what it means to grow with and through ourselves and the world around us. By inviting both past and present inspirations to participate in a scholarly discourse, we aim to create a unique moment of intergenerational exchange, disciplinary retrospection, and forward-looking imagination.
RhetTech is a great opportunity for students to publish their work in a peer-reviewed journal, and we highly encourage students to consider this chance to publish their work. If you choose to submit, you will receive a detailed response from us regarding your submission.
Submissions should be emailed to jmurhettech. We look forward to reading your submission!
Sincerely,
RhetTech Editors
