GradSchool: University of South Florida’s Rhetoric & Composition Ph.D. Program: Applications Invited

Hi everyone,

We are excited to invite applications to the Rhetoric and Composition Ph.D. program at the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL. Will you please help us spread the word with any potential candidates? Applications are due January 1, 2026.

USF Rhetoric and Composition Ph.D. students work closely with award-winning faculty and their peers as they learn about the field’s approaches to writing studies and program administration; digital rhetoric, technology, and information; public rhetorics; and professional and technical communication. Graduate students at USF gain experience with a wide range of research methods that reflect the field’s interdisciplinary nature. Methodological training combines theoretical grounding with applied practices, such as those prevalent in contemporary professional careers.

Graduates of USF’s Ph.D. program go on to work in both academia and industry. Recent graduates have accepted academic positions at universities like the University of Kentucky, James Madison University, Old Dominion University, and many more. Our graduates in industry have gone on to work for Marvel, DC Comics, Indeed.com, and Red Hat. They have also found employment at nonprofits, libraries, and in government.

USF English offers full and comprehensive funding, including five years of support for Ph.D. students.
