Many of you have no doubt heard of the passing of Bob Schwegler on Nov. 29. The link to his obituary is below, which is at a website that invites memories, photos, and tributes, and includes information about his funeral on Thursday, Dec. 18 in Warwick, R.I.
I met Bob during my first M.A. in creative writing at Syracuse University when I was 23. He was an Assistant Professor in the English Department at Syracuse and invited me to participate in a faculty reading group focusing on what was then very early research in composition. Sensing my intense interest in this work, he was instrumental in convincing me to seek a PhD in writing studies, which launched my career. We worked together for years on various book and article projects and collaborated on many conference presentations. He will be missed by many in the field and beyond.
