The Department of Humanities, Social Sciences, and the Arts at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (RHIT) seeks candidates for a Visiting Assistant Professor of English. The individual hired will begin in August 2026 for a one-year appointment, with potential for a second-year extension based on department needs for the 2027-2028 academic year.
Successful candidates must demonstrate potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching. At the time of employment, candidates must either be ABD or hold a Ph.D. or other terminal degree in English or a related discipline. We are open to a range of specializations, such as technical communication, rhetoric and composition, literature, and other thematic fields. We are especially interested in candidates who can develop and teach undergraduate courses in their areas of expertise as well as required writing courses, particularly technical and professional communication.
The mission of RHIT is to offer students “the world’s best undergraduate science, engineering and mathematics education in an environment of individual attention and support.” Our campus in west-central Indiana is home to 2,100 students with a passion for learning. The visiting assistant professor will join a multidisciplinary liberal arts department that teaches all Rose-Hulman students, offering many popular minors and a second major in International Studies.
