Dear colleagues,
TESOL International Association’s Second Language Writing Interest Section (SLWIS) is excited to announce the inaugural Second Language Writing Research Symposium. This virtual event will take place on March 7, 2026, 13:00–17:00 GMT. The symposium is meant to showcase the work of aspiring scholars in the field of second language writing. We especially welcome the work of graduate students in the field of second language writing. Those accepted to present at the upcoming research symposium will be asked to deliver their work in an online synchronous format.
This inaugural event welcomes research into any area of second language writing. However, research into critical, groundbreaking topics, such as AI in the second language writing classroom, will be given preference. Submissions should include an abstract of no more than 50 words and a session description of no more than 300 words. Word limits are not inclusive of the title and references. Any sources cited (optional) should be in APA format. We welcome works in progress and will provide feedback to support your ongoing research and writing.
Proposals should be submitted by February 1, 2026, at 17:00 GMT, with notification of acceptance on February 10, 2026. Please submit proposals via this slwisresearch.
With very best wishes,
Andy Jiahao Liu
