Instructor or Assistant Teaching Professor of English Composition
The Composition program in the School of Humanities at the University of Southern Mississippi invites qualified applicants for two full-time, 9-month, non-tenure track, Assistant Teaching Professors or Instructors (depending on qualifications) in English Composition. Teaching Track positions at USM are renewable with opportunities for promotion, and access to professional development travel funds. The teaching load is 4/4, with opportunities for summer teaching. These positions will always include first-year writing instruction, but faculty may also have opportunities to teach advanced undergraduate composition courses and introductory courses in literature. Candidates with an MA by the time of appointment will be considered at the rank of instructor-level faculty; candidates with a PhD will be considered at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor. The full-time appointment begins August 2026.
