Event: AI, Ethics, and the Classroom: A Webinar Series

“With the proper knowledge and skills, educators can approach this new age ready to focus on what they do best: teach our students.”

–Priten Soundar-Shah, AI and the Future of Education: Teaching in the Age of Artificial Intelligence (Wiley, 2023)

AI is here to stay. And as artificial intelligence and other computer science-related fields continue to revolutionize the world—and the classroom—teachers face new challenges.

That’s why NCTE is proud to partner with United Way of New York City for a second year to produce a new four-part Read & Write + Code Fellowship webinar series. Each session will feature industry-leading academics who help middle and high school English teachers reimagine what equity, literacy, and technology mean in their classrooms.

Join us on February 26 at 4:30 p.m. ET for our kickoff webinar with author and educator Priten Soundar-Shah on the ethics of AI. As CEO of PedagogyVentures, Soundar-Shah helps organizations integrate technology with proven teaching strategies and is at the forefront of the integration of AI and education. His next book, Ethical Ed Tech: How Educators Can Lead on AI and Digital Safety in K-12, will be published in May.

Additional speakers include Meenoo Rami, author of A Teacher’s Guide to Using AI, on March 17, and Chris Proctor, an assistant professor of learning sciences at University at Buffalo (SUNY) and the director of UB’s computer science teacher preparation program, in April. Stay tuned for the announcement of May’s special guest.
