| Dance Literacy: What Can Movement Teach Us About Our Writing, Our History, and Ourselves?
This eight-week seminar is about working together to explore connections between dance, writing, and literacy. Each week, we’ll move together gently. The movement exercises are designed for most bodies and all bodies are welcome. We’ll read a selection of critical essays that focus on dance and writing. And we’ll observe ourselves and others move as we write and imagine our way toward our own movement literacies. No prior dance or movement experience required.
The hub will be facilitated by Dr. Katie Marya, writer, literary translator, and Assistant Director of Composition at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Dr. Marya is also the author of Sugar Work, her debut poetry collection, which was selected as the Editor’s Choice for the 2020 Alice James Book Award.
Like the CLC’s previous hubs, this hub will be held virtually through Zoom on Tuesdays from June 2nd to July 28th, 6:30 – 8:30pm CST/7:30 – 8:30pm EST.
Possibilities Hub seats are limited, and the CLC provides reading materials free of charge to all participants. To honor these resources, please note that by registering, you’re committing to participate in all eight Hub sessions.
