I’m writing to announce the 2026 IWCA Summer Institute (SI) will be at Westminster University in Salt Lake City, Utah. We’d love for you to join us in August.
This year’s theme — building, sustaining, leading, and contributing — reflects our commitment to offering meaningful professional development for both new and experienced writing center professionals. Programming will include core curriculum sessions, breakouts, and dedicated time to move from theory to practice, with mentoring groups designed to foster connection with SI leaders and peers. All sessions are in-person; we will not be offering virtual attendance this year.
Participants will arrive Sunday, August 2, with optional dinner meetups to kick things off. The institute runs Monday through Thursday (August 3-6), with each day organized around one of the four SI themes. Friday, August 7 is a travel day, though participants are welcome to stay and explore Salt Lake City and Utah.
Registration is $950 and covers tuition, lunches, and daily coffee/tea service. Participants cover airfare, hotel, and dinners. We’ve secured a discounted room block at $189/night (breakfast included) and encourage participants to room together to reduce costs. Registration is limited to 35 participants andwill close July 5. IWCA has a limited number of travel scholarships up to $1,000, depending on the number of applicants. Visit the SI 2025 Scholarship Application form to apply. The deadline for travel scholarship application is May 15; scholarship decisions will be announced by June 1.
