Hello Writing Center Admins,
Anecdotally, I know that many writing centers engage some format of project-based teams, committees, or other collaborative groups to conduct work in our writing centers outside the scope of one-on-one tutoring. But how do these teams compare across different institutions?
We are hoping you will be willing to take a short survey, 10-15 minutes max, to share about the types of project teams/committees/collaborative groups at your writing center.
If you do not currently have such teams, we would also like you to respond to the survey saying that you do not and the survey will end there.
Our research team includes myself, Dr Emily Bouza, the disciplinary writing coordinator for the James Madison University Writing Center, and a team of undergraduate writing consultants including Jordan Tan, Griffin Brilhart, Xander Pearson, and Sophia Lundin. We recently started teams at our writing center, and we are hoping to fill a gap in the literature on this topic we noticed as we started an Outreach Team together at JMU.
Your participation is completely voluntary. Anonymized results will be included in a research article the team is writing, and results will possibly be presented at future conferences.

This study has been deemed as “Non-Human Subjects Research” by the IRB, protocol #IRB-FY26-806 because our questions are all programmatic in nature.
Thank you for your response!
Best,
Emily
