Survey: Writing Program Labor and Engagement

Dear colleagues,
As the spring semester winds down and we begin looking ahead to summer, I’d like to invite you to participate in a research study focused on well-being, engagement, and labor in writing studies.
The study, Well-being and Writing Program Labor (IRB# 2026-80), explores workplace satisfaction, professional engagement, and energy management among writing studies professionals. The goal is to better understand how Writing Program Administrators can recognize and address burnout while supporting healthier, more sustainable working environments for faculty, graduate instructors, and staff.
You are eligible to participate if you are 18 years of age or older and:

  • teach writing courses in higher education (faculty or graduate students), and/or
  • administer writing programs.

The survey takes approximately 18 minutes to complete. Participation is entirely voluntary. While there is no monetary compensation, participants may request a summary of the aggregated findings once the study is complete.

Your experiences and perspectives would make a meaningful contribution to ongoing conversations about labor, well-being, and sustainability in writing studies. Please feel free to share this invitation with colleagues who may also be interested.
If you have questions about the study, please contact Dr. Christal Seahorn at seahorn.
Thank you for considering participation.
