New: Xchanges 20.1/20.2 (Spring 2026), 25th Anniversary Warm-Up

Hello!

The Xchanges journal is in its 25th year and we are truckin’ right along with a new issue, featuring three amazing pieces of scholarship by graduate students, one engaging work by a BA/MD student, and a thought-provoking faculty retrospective. Enjoy reading the articles in this issue yourself, use them as inspiration and model texts in your own classrooms, and spread the word about Xchanges to your colleagues and students – especially to encourage the latter group to submit their multimodal or traditional primary-research-driven works for consideration for a future issue.

Also, we have some big events coming later this year to celebrate our 25th birthday. In Fall, we will release a special issue of the journal guest-edited by Jason Tham and Sweta Baniya. And, we will have a website re-launch for that issue, with a brand new design and many new features. Also, please be sure to “like” Xchanges on Facebook as we have video features with insights shared by our editorial team, bi-weekly posts showcasing past articles, and other fun content.

Thanks for supporting Xchanges for a quarter of a century. If you have any questions or if you’d like to serve on our faculty review board, as always, reach out to us.

Julie (with Jenn and Manny and all of our superb Xchanges editorial team members)

Founded in 1889, the University of New Mexico sits on the traditional homelands of the Pueblo of Sandia. The original peoples of New Mexico – Pueblo, Navajo, and Apache – since time immemorial, have deep connections to the land and have made significant contributions to the broader community statewide. We honor the land itself and those who remain stewards of this land throughout the generations and also acknowledge our committed relationship to Indigenous peoples. We gratefully recognize our history.
