We, as a research team, are reaching out with an invitation to participate in a study titled “International Students’ Positionality in Precarious Political Times: What TPC and Related Programs Need to Know.”
This study is being conducted by Asmita Ghimire, Dorcas Anabire, and Thais Rodrigues Cons with the support of the Council for Programs in Technical and Scientific Communication (CPTSC) Research Grants program. It has been approved by the University of St. Thomas Institutional Review Board under number 2421162-3.
Our study examines the experiences of international graduate students amid the current political and immigration climate, particularly how programs currently support international students–and how that support might be improved. We are interested in Technical and Professional Communication (TPC) programs, as well as related academic programs (Rhetoric and Composition, Writing Studies, or Scientific Communication).
If you are:
- A current international graduate student in a TPC or a related program,
- Or recently graduated from a TPC or related program,
your perspective would be valuable to this study. No specialized knowledge of immigration policy or TPC scholarship is required to participate.

The online survey takes approximately 15-20 minutes. Participation is voluntary, and participants may skip any question or stop before submitting their responses. After completing the survey, participants may enter a raffle for one of twenty $30 Visa digital gift cards. Participants may also indicate whether they are interested in a future follow-up interview.
