I’m writing to share news about a petition (which, based on the number of signatures we have received already, some of you have already signed). The petition is a response to the latest NCTE news about the future of writing studies. Most NCTE’s executive committee members believe it’s appropriate to redirect the funds used to support CCCC to other purposes, shutter the organization, and turn it into an assembly linked to the College Section. Some of us think otherwise. We believe the best direction to take might lie in another direction. Please take a look at our petition at https://www.ipetitions.com/p/supporting-a-new-home-for-the-writing-studies-community/. If you agree with it, please sign it. You’ll be in good company, including past CCCC chairs, past TYCS chairs, past NCTE presidents, and past CCCC exemplars, among many other excellent teachers and scholars. Here’s to a bright future for the writing studies community.
All the best,
Mike
