The Literature & Languages Department at East Texas A&M is hiring a department head at the Associate or Full level. Our department needs senior faculty in Composition/Rhetoric/Literacy/Writing Studies, and our search committee will be very excited to see applications from anyone in our field(s). The job ad doesn’t specify this need—it’s the standard template the college has used for department heads in the past.

Deadline: 8/28 (for priority consideration).

Here’s a bit of Comp/Rhet context that the ad doesn’t provide: We have large PhD (60+) and Masters (80+) programs that can be completed entirely online, and our rhetoric and composition track is very popular. The PhD only became possible to complete entirely online months ago, and we are already experiencing a higher volume of applications. We also have a university Writing Program that runs ENG 1301 (academic writing) and ENG 1302 (research writing) courses and a Writing Center. Our undergraduate population is majority first-gen. The university is an hour northeast of Dallas (with many faculty members living between Dallas and the University or in the McKinney/Frisco/Plano area). We also plan to hire more Assistant Professors of Rhetoric and Writing soon.
