Plus a day of onsite pre-symposium programming on 2/3
The WIS ’27 CFP invites proposals due 10/21 for the following program categories: 5-minute flashtalks, 75-minute workshops, posters, displays, and installations. We invite undergraduates to share 30-second sparks and 3-minute flares (due 12/4). We also invite early career colleagues, including students, recent graduates, and career changers, to apply (by 10/21) to join the 2027 WIS Bedford/St. Martin’s Fellowship Program cohort.
In addition, at registration (open November-January), everyone will be invited to contribute brief writer/education manifestos. This is a program category. Manifesto contributors will be listed on the program, and manifestos will be circulated to WIS participants. Manifestos will also serve as the basis of Friday’s closing ideation sessions, when we will explore our individual and collective futures as writers and writing educators. This opportunity is occasioned by the WIS ’27 theme, the upcoming 10th anniversary of the WIS, and ongoing efforts to rehome writing studies after the July de-chartering of the CCCC.
