Call for Editorial Board Members
The editors of The WAC Journal invite applicants to serve a four-year term on the Journal’s Editorial Advisory Board.
The WAC Journal publishes scholarship about the study, theory, and teaching of writing and language use in a variety of disciplinary and professional contexts beyond English and first-year composition, with a goal of enacting change in how people understand, teach and learn to write.
Beginning next year, The WAC Journal will publish:
-
Peer-reviewed feature articles (double anonymous peer reviewed)
-
WAC program profiles (editorial review)
-
Praxis & pedagogy (editorial review)
-
Book reviews (editorial review)
-
Forums or dialogues (editorial review)
-
Interviews about how people write, teach writing, or research writing (editorial review)
-
Retrospectives (editorial review)
As we move forward, we hope to solicit board members who are interested in mentoring authors and supporting diverse writers throughout the publication process. Specifically, new board members are expected to:
-
Be currently employed full time at an institution of higher education;
-
Have published about WAC and WID in the past five years;
-
Review at least 2 and no more than 3 article submissions for the journal per year as needed;
-
Work with the journal editors to support writers through the publication process (for example, by attending publication-focused IWAC workshops organized by the editors or participating in online mentoring events hosted by The WAC Journal editorial team);
-
Help solicit submissions to the journal;
-
Represent the journal at conferences if the editors cannot attend (wear WAC Journal flair; hand out flyers, etc).
Board members will serve a 4 year term with the opportunity to renew for one additional term; no board member will serve more than 8 years total.
If you are interested in serving, please complete this wacjournaleditors.
Sincerely,
Caitlin Martin, Mandy Olejnik, and Elizabeth Wardle
