CFP: Call for book reviews: Programmatic Perspectives

Greetings!

My name is Rachel Bryson, and I am the new book review editor for Programmatic Perspectives. We are looking for book reviews for our Spring 2027 issue. While anyone is welcome to review a book, we want to particularly encourage graduate students and early-career faculty to review. The editing process for book reviews is highly supportive. Please share this call with your graduate students!

We have a brief list of books we have in mind, but we are open to other recent technical, professional, and scientific communication texts, particularly as they apply to program administration.

· Tammy Rice-Bailey & Kimberly S. Baker, Everyday rhetoric: Shaping perceptions, behaviors, and interactions. Routledge.

· K. Alex Ilyasova & Sean D. Williams (Eds.), Where we start: A practical guide to technical communication program administration. University Press of Colorado.

· Michelle McMullin, Valerie Smith, & Lisa Melonçon, Research practice in technical and professional communication. WAC Clearinghouse.

· Sarah Read, Busting the myth of the communication metaphor: How technical writing conventions perpetuate injustice. SUNY Press.

Book reviews are assigned on a first-emailed, first-assigned basis. Please email me at rachelbryson1 if you are interested in reviewing any of these titles. First drafts of reviews will be due by February 1.

Feel free to reach out to me with any questions! I hope to see many of you at CPTSC and SIGDOC over the next few weeks!

Warmly,

Rachel Bryson
