#JOBS at UA Little Rock: 2 positions–(1) Chair and (2) TT Assistant Professor
We have been given permission for two hires: the Chair position to replace retiring Joyce Carter and a new TT Assistant professor position

Required Education and/or Experience:
- Doctoral degree in Rhetoric and Composition, Technical Writing, Writing Studies, English or closely related field.
Preferred Education and/or Experience:
- Effective academic leadership and/or higher education administrative experience; an established record of teaching and scholarship equivalent to Associate Professor or Professor rank at UA Little Rock with a demonstrated commitment to working across disciplines.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve on the Dean’s leadership team
- Oversee undergraduate and graduate programs
- Be responsible for departmental-level administration and coordination
- Supervise department faculty and staff
- Provide budget oversight
- Oversee faculty recruitment and retention
- Administer annual faculty and staff evaluations
- Oversee departmental promotion and tenure processes
- Mentor faculty
- Promote student success
- Teach in traditional and online formats
- Represent the department within the college, university, and with outside community
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ability to provide academic leadership to the department
- Experience and/or desire to engage in professional service activities within the community
- A proven record of building positive student, colleague, and community relationships
- Ongoing record of scholarly research and engagement in the discipline

Summary of Job Duties:
The University of Arkansas at Little Rock is seeking to fill the position of Assistant Professor of Rhetoric and Writing (tenure track) to begin in August of 2024. The University of Arkansas at Little Rock is a metropolitan research university that provides an accessible, high-quality education to a community of diverse learners. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy
Qualifications:
Required Education and/or Experience:
- PhD in Rhetoric and Writing Studies, Composition, Technical Communication, English, and other appropriate disciplines; other terminal degrees considered. ABD considered.
Preferred Education and/or Experience:
- Experience in various forms and theories of nonfiction or technical/professional communication to teach in the BA and MA concentrations;
- Interest in working in cross-disciplinary settings;
- Experience teaching in multiple modalities
- Record of effectiveness as a teacher; and
- Existing scholarly record and/or clear scholarly trajectory in Rhetoric and Writing Studies, broadly defined.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach courses in Composition, Rhetoric, Technical Writing, and/or Nonfiction that may be offered in face-to-face, hybrid, online, and weekend formats
- Provide service on departmental, college, and university committees as well as service in the community and to the discipline;
- Produce and disseminate scholarly and creative works
- Other duties assigned

- Teaching experience in a college setting;
- Ability to teach a variety of courses in traditional and online formats;
