I am please to announce that Madison Area Technical College based in Madison, Wisconsin has posted a part-time staff position for professional tutor!
We are seeking to hire a 1,300 hours/year (25 hours/week, 52-weeks/year) professional tutor interested in embracing our mission of supporting members of the Madison College community to become more effective, confident, and successful writers. Our goal is to build students’ awareness of their linguistic abilities and to provide writers with transferable skills that help them not just on one paper but also on future assignments and even beyond college.
A successful candidate is someone who understands the value of collaboration when working one-on-one with writers, promotes and practices writing as a process whereby no stage of the writing process is more important than another stage. A successful candidate also demonstrates curiosity about students’ linguistic and cultural backgrounds and builds students’ language awareness with an asset-based perspective. This position is ideal for someone who seeks to be part of a community of practice, which includes building professional relationships with colleagues and participating in meetings and professional development when offered.
