Greetings, TYCA Folks!
I know that many of you are just getting back online after taking the month of July off for some R&R, so I’m just passing along the details about the TYCA MIdwest CFP once more, as we have extended the deadline for proposals to August 16th. The extended deadline is still just two weeks away!
The TYCA Midwest conference will be held in the Metro Detroit area at Schoolcraft College from October 17-19. This year’s theme, Hustle and Flow, aims to reflect our unique position in Michigan as a hub for both manufacturing and ecotourism, of environmental advances and eroding infrastructure. We invite you to bring your inquiries and revelations, your frustrations and epiphanies, the culmination of all of the contradictions of your daily teaching life to our community dialogue about what it means to teach English at two-year colleges today.
Please click here to read the CFP and submit your proposal today!
ALSO: If you’re TYCA Midwest curious and looking to get connected, please consider attending our Zoom gathering on August 16th, where we’ll have a very chill and approachable discussion about a recent TETYC article "Teaching Reading as Raciolinguistic Justice: (Re)centering Reading Strategies for Antiracist Reading," by Emily Suh. We’d love to talk with you and see what you think about a metacognitive approach to teaching reading in FYC as an antiracist practice.

Thanks everyone! Have a great weekend!
