Position Description
The English department at Georgia State University invites applications for a full time tenure-track faculty position (2/2 teaching load) starting August 2025. The successful applicant will have an interest in writing program administration and any of the following: rhetoric of social media, writing in non-academic settings, technical writing, comparative rhetorics, rhetoric and under-represented peoples.
Required Education
Ph.D in Rhetoric and Composition or closely related field at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications/Experience
Successful candidates will have:
- Instructor of record for at least one course
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness which might include a teaching portfolio, student evaluations, and/or scholarship of teaching and learning
- Writing program administration experienceExperience from a successful research program
- Research interests in
- Rhetoric of social media
- Writing in non-academic settings
- Technical writing
- Comparative rhetorics
- Rhetoric and under-represented peoples
- Digital rhetoric
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Successful candidates will have:
- Experience developing learning outcomes and assessment practices
- A historical perspective on rhetoric
- Administrative capacity
- Strong connections to the discipline
- Evidence of constantly evolving digital engagement
- Experience articulating ethical uses of AI
- Developed practices of evidenced-based pedagogy and inclusive instruction
