GradSchool: Ph.D. at the University of Texas at Austin

Dear Colleagues:

The PhD program in rhetoric at the University of Texas at Austin is accepting applications until 1/13/25. With 12 dedicated faculty, our program offers an innovative curriculum, research, and pre-professional training that prepares students to engage scholarly conversations about rhetorical theory from historical and global perspectives and to conduct empirical research using qualitative and quantitative methodologies. Our recently re-energized curriculum offers practical training in rhetoric and writing pedagogy and opportunities to apply rhetorical principles to nonacademic problems. UT rhetoric faculty have diverse specialties in rhetorical history; digital rhetorics; feminist rhetorics; cultural rhetorics; technical communication; rhetorical theory; writing theory and pedagogy; queer rhetorics; public rhetorics; and rhetorics of science and technology. All students are fully funded, and we have an excellent career outcomes record with recent placements at University of Kentucky, University of British Columbia, and Meta.

Please feel free to circulate the linked flier and/or the further particulars about the program and the application process that are available below. Additional questions can be sent to Dr. Donnie Sackey at donnie.sackey.
