Dear Writing Center Tutors and Consultants,
Our initial event announcement had a typo, and we apologize for any confusion this may have caused.
The correct date for our upcoming Tutor Talks session is Wednesday, November 12 at 3 PM CST (4 PM EST / 1 PM PST). We hope you will join us next week for our third Tutor Talks session of the 2025-26 year: Un-Tutor Talks.
In the spirit of an “unconference,” this Tutor Talks doesn’t have a set topic for discussion, but instead will vote on what topics we discuss in the moment, based on the interests of the attendees. Attendees will be encouraged to pitch topics and ideas when RSVPing, in the Zoom chat, and in our collaborative Google Doc. Members of the Tutor Talks Executive Committee will be there to help facilitate and guide discussion as needed.
Possible topics may include:
-
Handling uncomfortable situations
-
Generative AI use
-
Mentorship
-
Student engagement
Tutor Talks is a tutor-focused forum (“for tutors, by tutors”) of virtual professional development sessions for writing center tutors. The aim of the sessions is to create an open discussion for tutors to support and learn from one another.
Writing tutors and consultants from all over (not just the SCWCA region!) are welcome. Directors/administrators, because these sessions are tutor-focused, we ask that you not attend them yourselves. However, please share with your tutors and encourage them to take advantage of these fun and informative opportunities to learn and connect! Also note that, to ensure a safe and comfortable space for all, sessions will not be recorded.
Tutors: Please RSVP through this Google Form. The Zoom room will be sent out on the day of the session. (Please check your spam folder if you do not receive the link.)
Sincerely,
Tutor Talks Executive Committee
