Event: C’s 26 Transnational Composition SG Sponsored Panel & Business Meeting

Dear colleagues,

We look forward to seeing you all in Cleveland for CCCC 2026! The Transnational Composition Standing Group warmly welcomes you to the following events: our SG-sponsored workshop and our business meeting/gathering!

Transnational Composition SG-Sponsored Workshop:
Title: Writing Studies in the Other Americas: Two Decades of Building Transnational Writing Research Communities

  • Time: 1:45-3:00 pm (EST), Thursday, Mar 5
  • Location: Room 26A, Huntington Convention Center
  • Description: This year’s panel features contributions from scholars based across the Americas. The panel will coincide with the launch of the book Writing Studies in Latin America: Seminal Works (The WAC Clearinghouse, in press), which, for the first time, introduces to an English-speaking audience the most frequently cited research on writing produced in Latin America. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with Latin American knowledge production on topics such as the development of genre-based didactic models, the dynamics of access and exclusion in adult literacy, the expansion of literacy practices in schools, writing-across-the-curriculum programs grounded in functional linguistics, discursive strategies of knowledge attribution in graduate writing, and student agency in self-managed academic practices. Our discussant will explore contrasts and connections between Latin American and U.S.-based writing research. Join us in celebration of this amazing work!

Transnational Composition SG Gathering & Business Meeting:

  • Time: 6:30-7:30 pm (EST), Thursday, Mar 5
  • Location: Room 26C, Ballroom Level C4, Huntington Convention Center
  • Come to our session to review SG activities, engage in scholarly conversations around transnational composition, meet old and new friends, and pitch ideas for next year’s sponsored panel. We welcome everyone from our long-time members and new friends!

We look forward to seeing you all in Cleveland soon!

All the best,

Nancy Bou Ayash (Chair) and Xiqiao Wang (Associate Chair)
