A Spring Check-In from CCC
Dear colleagues,
It was great to see many of you at CCCC 2026 in Cleveland! We hope that your spring semester is gearing up to conclude well. Here’s what’s been going on over at CCC.
Updates
The February 2026 issue is out! We invite you to be curious about the dangers of misguided internal censorship claims (Holly Hassel and Kate L. Pantelides), a bibliometric network analysis of intra-journal citations within CCC (Marie Pruitt), and how L2 undergrads develop their use of sources over time (Soomin Jwa). This issue also includes a Research Brief by Jessica Pauszek, Veronica House, and Paula Mathieu, who provide an overview of community-engaged writing. And last (but certainly not least), check out Sarah Young’s Book Review Essay on writing surveillance.
Have you checked out the December 2025 issue? Read articles on a variety of topics such as the erosion of writing’s value under late capitalism (James Rushing Daniel), five factors contributing to writing transfer beyond the first-year composition classroom (Ryan P. Shepherd), a cross-institutional case study on reflective writing (Jaclyn Fiscus-Cannaday, Lillian Campbell, and Jennifer E. Eidum), and the nonlinear development of sonic literacies (Christopher E. Castillo). Rounding out the issue is Laura Gonzales’ review essay on several texts in multilingual and translingual writing studies research.

CCC in Council Chronicle. We were recently featured in Council Chronicle’s Cover to Cover Series! In this piece, we chat about our approach to editorial work and the history that brought us here.
Editorial Team Changes. One of our Editorial Assistants, Anyssa Gonzalez, will be rotating off at the end of spring 2026 as she is the recipient of the Graduate Dean’s Dissertation Completion Fellowship. Congrats, Anyssa! Kara and fellow Editorial Assistant PD Edgar (who just completed his comprehensive exams– congrats PD!) completed interviews for the role, and we look forward to welcoming our new team member this summer!
Behind the Scenes at CCC
Special Issue CFP Coming Soon… We’ve been hard at work putting together the CFP for the 2027 September special issue, from team calls to Editorial Board brainstorming. You can expect the CFP to circulate in early May!
