Tim Elliott and I (Chalice Randazzo) are recruiting participants for a survey about TPC and community engagement. The survey shouldn’t take longer than 15 minutes, and all responses will remain anonymous. I will explain the purpose of the study below, and the consent statement at the start of the survey has more details, but the secure link to our Qualtrics survey is here: https://utahtech.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_4UXoAdpDSls9G0m
The purpose of our study is to understand the type of community engagement that TPC educators do: for classes, research, or community betterment. In informal conversations, we have learned that some of our TPC colleagues are doing community engaged work that 1) requires their disciplinary expertise but 2) does not fit neatly into service learning or community engaged research. We are wondering how that type of community engagement fits into TPC conversations about community engagement.
So, we are recruiting broadly: whether you’re doing community engagement for courses, research, community betterment, or a combination of those things. Engagement that you’re not using toward tenure, promotion, or retention also counts for the study. As long as the work you’re doing requires your disciplinary expertise, we would like to hear from you.
In addition to the survey, we also have opportunities for interviews (either in addition to the survey or stand-alone). Interview participants will receive a $25 gift card. If you would be more interested in that option, please email either Timothy Elliott (t.elliott) or Chalice Randazzo (chalice.randazzo).
