Colleagues:
We have extended the proposal deadline for Contesting Scientific Literacies: New Tools for a New World to May 15. Please see below for more information. We are happy to answer any questions!
I’m excited to invite chapter proposals for an edited collection: Contesting Scientific Literacies: New Tools for a New World. This book will interrogate, contest, and reimagine the current ideas that scientific literacy can only be accounted for through normative assessments. This collection reconceptualizes scientific literacies as socially distributed, rhetorically mediated, and collectively enacted across a wide array of educational and public spaces.
We are recruiting broadly from academics in Writing Studies and Applied Linguistics (early career and graduate students especially encouraged) and community and education practitioners.
The full CFP can be found here. It is also attached.
The deadline for submission is May 15, 2026.
Any questions can be sent to co-editors Meg Marquardt and Lourdes Cardozo Gaibisso at contestingsciliteracy.
