Job: Instructor/Assistant Professor of English, Georgia Highlands College

Georgia Highlands College is looking to fill two English instructor/professor positions for AY 26-27. These are tenure-track positions teaching a contractual 5/5 with a good chance for over-load if desired. Starting salary is $45-50,000 depending on whether it is granted at instructor (no terminal degree) or professor (terminal degree completed). Tenure and promotion places emphasis on teaching – please make teaching the focus of your job documents if applying!

We are a predominantly two-year degree granting institution northwest of the Atlanta area with four campus locations, but these two openings will be for the Cartersville campus, located right off Interstate 75 on Georgia Highway 20. The majority of the teaching load will be English Composition 1 and 2 and Support for English Composition 1, with a possibility to teach Humanities elective courses, creative writing, or literature courses based on degree focus. The candidate will likely be asked to teach on the Cartersville High School campus as part of the Dual Enrollment program as well, but every effort is made to prevent teaching on more than one campus on the same day.

The English department at GHC has a growing and active Writing Center, active student writing club, and a growing presence in TYCA-SE. Funding for conference travel or other professional development opportunities is competitive through our CETL and Provost’s Office and is based on demonstrated benefit to student success and a promise to share what was learned with faculty.

Sadly, we do not offer compensation for travel for teaching demonstrations or for relocation, but those invited for a teaching demonstration from out of the area can request the Georgia Highlands rate at the Marriott across the street from our Cartersville campus.

To apply, you can go to highlands.edu and select "Quick Links/About GHC" and then "Work at GHC" — search "English" to find the posted positions (one is currently listed only as instructor while the other is listed as "instructor or professor." Hopefully, you can also follow this link to the posting, but these links can be shaky:
