Survey: Building Writing Centers in the Global South

Greetings,

My name is Katharine Brown, and I am the Associate Director of University Writing at Auburn University. I would like to invite you to participate in my research study, “Building Writing Centers in the Global South: Opportunities and Challenges.” The goal of this research is to examine the need for establishing university writing centers in the Global South and to identify and document the challenges and barriers associated with their development and sustainability. You are eligible to participate if you are an administrator or employee of a writing center at a college or university located in the Global South, or if you have served in one of these roles within the past five years. Global South here refers to countries and territories with developing economies. Participants must be at least 18 years of age and able to participate in an interview conducted in English via Zoom.

If you decide to participate in this research study, you will first complete a brief Qualtrics survey. After completing the survey, you will be invited to participate in a Zoom interview. Participation in the interview is voluntary, and you may choose not to participate or to withdraw at any time. Your total time commitment will be approximately one hour.

Any data obtained in connection with this study will remain confidential. Your privacy will be protected by de-identifying data using a pseudonym and saving all data to a secure folder in Box protected by two-factor authentication. Information collected through your participation may be published in a professional journal and/or presented at a professional meeting.

Please contact me (brownkh) with any questions you have about this study.

If you would like to participate, please complete this brief survey.

Your participation in this study is voluntary. You may refuse to participate or withdraw from the study at any time without any penalty.
