The book appears in the book series, Studies in Writing and Rhetoric, which is edited by Stephanie Kerschbaum and in which we co-publish open-access books with the Conference on College Composition and Communication and NCTE.

This edited collection addresses the nexus of disability studies and writing studies for readers unfamiliar with DS while also speaking to current scholars, teachers, and activists. It explores significant developments in the field over the previous two decades and addresses the need for accessibility in the teaching of writing and for building a culture of access beyond institutional accommodations. The chapters in this book
- center disabled and diverse perspectives;
- expand ideas about access through a disability studies lens; and
- offer approaches, applications, and activities for writing instruction and teacher training.
Showcasing the growth and the radical, entangled, justice-seeking ecologies of disability and writing studies, Disability, Access, and the Teaching of Writing is theoretically rich while also offering adaptable pedagogical methods for the classroom. This is a collection that teachers of writing can hold close as an intellectual touchstone and day-to-day resource as they pursue transformative access.
