I’m thrilled to share this CFP for the first-ever CUNY Composition Conference, which will be held at City College of New York, June 10-12, 2027.
Proposals are due Monday, November 23rd.
The conference theme is Errors in Our Expectations: Mina Shaughnessy and Basic Writing 50 Years Later. Can y’all believe Shaughnessy’s influential book will be 50 years old in 2027!?
My Co-Chair, James Dunn, and I can’t wait to gather at the institution where Shaughnessy taught—City College—to assess her legacy, question what basic writing means today, and outline future directions of the field of composition studies. The abrupt dissolution of CCCC has only heightened our dedication to explore together what the future holds.
