\Call for Submissions: Disputatio Responds to CCCC
On July 24, 2026, the Executive Committee of the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE-EC) put in motion the decision to de-charter the Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC). How does an academic field react, respond, and move forward when a 77-year-old professional organization is dissolved? Where do we turn for community? For resources, publication opportunities, and professional development?
With the dissolution of the Conference on College Composition and Communication, Kairos’s Disputatio section invites you to submit your provocations and mini-manifestos that use current theory or praxis in the field to respond.
We are interested in provocations that capture a multitude of perspectives. Possible topics may include:

The impact or potential impact on graduate students and early-career and non-tenure track scholars.

Calls and responses to boycott CCCC 2027.
-
CCCC 2027 counter programming initiatives.

Visions for how the field could move forward.
Submission Guidelines:
Send initial query emails to the Disputatio Co-Editors Rick Wysocki (rlwysocki) and Ashley Beardsley (ashley.m.beardsley). The query should:

Be 250–300 words.

Provide a brief explanation of the topic and why you believe you have the background knowledge to support this provocation.

Include a description of your initial ideas regarding the webtext’s design. We ask that you review Kairos’s formatting guidelines to help you conceptualize your work.
