Greetings all,
It is my distinct pleasure to share Volume 31 of the Journal of the Assembly for Expanded Perspectives on Learning, now available online and open access. The theme of this volume is “Looking Back to Look Forward.” It brings together four retrospectives by former AEPL leaders, three peer-reviewed articles, three reprints (including two book chapters), four pieces in our Connecting section, a book review, and a special commentary by Doug Hesse, entitled “A CCCC Requiem.”
JAEPL is the peer-reviewed journal of the Assembly for Expanded Perspectives on Learning. It publishes scholarship and creative work that broadens how we understand writing, teaching, and learning, including perspectives on emotion, embodiment, creativity, reflection, and the whole person. We are now accepting submissions for Volume 32. You can read more about the journal and the work we welcome on our Aims and Scope page. We recently migrated to a new platform and are continuing to refine the site’s layout to better reflect the journal’s scholarly work.
AEPL is dedicated to exploring approaches to teaching and learning beyond traditional disciplinary and methodological boundaries. Following a wonderful conference at UC Santa Barbara this past summer, featuring presentations by Jonathan Alexander and Karen Lunsford and a keynote by Charles Bazerman, we have announced plans to return to UCSB in June 2027 (CFP forthcoming). AEPL membership is $45 per year and includes a printed copy of JAEPL, a pleasure increasingly rare among scholarly journals. We hope you’ll read the new volume, consider sending us your work, and join us in Santa Barbara next summer.
