Dear colleagues,
The Global Society of Online Literacy Educators (GSOLE) invites educators, scholars, researchers, administrators, tutors, instructional designers, and students around the world to submit proposals for our eleventh annual online international conference. We welcome first-time and experienced presenters from every context where online literacy is taught and supported, including K–12 schools, two-year colleges, universities, writing centers, and settings beyond the academy. We especially encourage proposals from adjunct, part-time, and contingent faculty and from colleagues outside the United States. We offer multiple presentation formats, both live and pre-recorded, and proposal mentoring for anyone who would like feedback before submitting. Our mission is to create an inclusive and accessible conference experience from start to finish.
Conference at a Glance
- Theme: Beyond Engagement: Opening Doors and Building Community for the Future of Online Literacy Education
- Conference dates: Wednesday, February 3, through Friday, February 5, 2027
- Format: Fully online. Live sessions take place on Zoom and are recorded for registered attendees; on-demand presentations are hosted on the GSOLE website.
- Proposal deadline: Monday, October 19, 2026
About the Theme
"Beyond Engagement" asks how digital learning environments can do more than provide access. They can open doors to meaningful participation, connection, and opportunity. We invite work that looks past surface-level evidence of engagement, such as screen time, course completion, or forum posts, toward learning experiences that support student well-being and care, cultivate belonging, strengthen learner agency and critical thinking, and build a shared sense of purpose. We also welcome work that confronts the structural inequities that can limit engagement before it begins.
Topics We Invite
Proposals may address, but are not limited to:
- Beyond engagement in online learning and pedagogy
- Online literacy community design
- Emerging technologies and AI literacy in online literacy instruction
- Inclusive, diverse, equitable, and accessible (IDEA) communities
- The future of writing centers and writing programs
- Adjunct, part-time, and contingent faculty community
- (Re)building professional communities, including life after the CCCC de-chartering
