For colleagues working with undergraduate writers:
The Writing Innovation Symposium invites undergraduate writers to participate asynchronously in the next WIS by sharing 30-second sparks and 3-minute flares for inclusion in the 2027 online display.
Full information, including genre descriptions and prompts, can be found in our guides for authors and their teacher-mentors. (The latter includes some ideas for teaching.) Peruse prior displays on the WIS website, and note: This year we welcome not only 30-second and 3-minute audio and video submissions (with transcripts or closed captions) but also document-based equivalents (e.g., collages, comics, zines, posters).
Submissions (via this form) are due 12/4; notifications go out 12/15; the display goes live 2/4. Remote participation is free; registration for optional onsite participation is $25.
Also note: Proposals for WIS ’27 flashtalks, workshops, posters, interactive displays, and installations are due 10/21. The final day of the symposium (2/5) will include an ideation session related (in part) to CCCC; everyone who registers for WIS ’27 will be invited to join the program by sharing a writer-educator manifesto. Details will become available next month.
