Dear Colleagues,
Teaching Democracy is hosting a second fall workshop on Monday, November 16th at 12 PM EDT led by Nancy Welch.
This interactive forum will introduce you to the Palestinian-led Scholarships for Ghazza initiative. Two participants—mentor Nancy Welch in New Hampshire and mentee Abdullah al-Bitar in Gaza—will share their mentoring experience as Abdullah aspires to obtain abroad a graduate degree in Environmental Engineering so he may help rebuild Gaza’s water and sanitation systems. Through this discussion you will learn the extent of Israel’s destruction of Gaza’s educational institutions, the persistence of Palestinians in seeking higher education, and the role of initiatives like Scholarships for Ghazza in facilitating pathways for Palestinian students to complete their educations and bring home urgently needed skills, perspectives, and international networks of support. You will also learn how to apply to become a mentor and the responsibilities and rewards that come with this role. We hope you can join us.
