| Dear Colleagues,
We’re pleased to share the news that a new open-access book is available through the WAC Clearinghouse (https://wacclearinghouse.org). Writing Fellows: A Research- and Practice-Based Guide for Program Administrators, Faculty, and Tutors is written by Pam Bromley, Eliana Schonberg, and Scott Whiddon. It appears in the book series Across the Disciplines, which is edited by Michael Pemberton and Kathryn Northcut. In Writing Fellows, authors Pam Bromley, Eliana Schonberg, and Scott Whiddon offer the first comprehensive guide for creating, sustaining, and assessing writing fellow programs. These programs, when grounded in research-informed pedagogy, not only promote better student writing processes and outcomes but also facilitate fellows’ own communication skills and provide ongoing faculty pedagogical development. This book includes chapters targeted to each key constituency in writing fellows work: program administrators, disciplinary faculty, and student writing fellows. It also provides a compendium of related research and a comprehensive appendix, with templates for commonly used materials that allow program leaders to adapt to local contexts. Writing Fellows is a key resource for starting, expanding, or reimagining programs, for faculty across disciplines considering effective pedagogical integration of writing fellows, and for undergraduate and graduate writing fellows. The book will also be available in a print edition from the University Press of Colorado in the coming months. Thanks to Pam, Eliana, and Scott for their decision to share it with us as an open-access publication. Thanks as well to the anonymous peer reviewers who contributed to its development. On behalf of the entire Clearinghouse team, Michele Zugnoni Associate Publisher for Communication |
