Virtual Talk: Rhetorical Practices in the Hands of African American Women: A Profile
The University Writing Program’s Writing for Social Justice course, taught by Dr. Codi Renee Blackmon, will host a virtual talk featuring Jacqueline Jones Royster, Professor Emerita at The Ohio State University and Georgia Institute of Technology, on November 19, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. EST.
Through a historical profile, Royster will explore the rhetorical practices of an African American woman whose contributions to social change, intellectual life, and public discourse have often been overlooked. The talk invites us to consider how literacy, writing, and rhetorical action advance social justice.
