The English Department at the University of Georgia announces a search for a Lecturer in Rhetoric and Composition to begin in August 2024. The successful candidate will teach First-year Writing and, depending on curricular need, may be assigned upper division courses. The Lecturer position is a non-tenure-track faculty appointment with a 4/4 teaching load, renewable on a yearly basis depending on satisfactory performance and the availability of funding and offers two opportunities for promotion. We welcome candidates who employ interdisciplinary approaches that transcend traditional boundaries for the best teaching delivery. Lecturers are not expected to conduct research and have limited service obligations.
Minimal credentials are 1) a Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition or a Ph.D. in English with emphasis in rhetoric and composition and/or writing studies, and 2) at least two years of experience teaching writing. We particularly welcome candidates with expertise in and ability to teach in one or more of the following secondary areas: professional and technical communication; multimodal composition; writing analytics; multilingual writing; and writing in the disciplines/writing across the curriculum (WAC/WID).
