Folks,
Technical Communication Quarterly (TCQ) is soliciting special issue proposals, which are due December 15. Please refer to the call for proposals (CFP) for details regarding what to include in your proposal and to the guest editor instructions for a full description of the process and guest editor responsibilities.
In the recent editor listening sessions on anti-racism and inclusion practices in publication editing and academic publishing, one theme we heard from participants was the importance of mentoring and transparency to support multiply marginalized and underrepresented (MMU) scholars, particularly graduate students, and early career scholars. To increase transparency, TCQ’s editor in chief has updated our guest editor instructions with additional detail about the publication process and has added the following to the special issue CFP:
Special consideration will be given to proposals that explain how guest editors will 1) seek submissions from MMU scholars, particularly graduate students, and early career scholars, and 2) support contributing scholars through the publication process. Such efforts could involve, for example, particular forms of mentorship, flexibility in accepted genres or innovative genre options, specific ways to increase transparency, or other ideas. Feel free to contact editor in chief Tracy Bridgeford (tbridgeford) to request a meeting to talk through your ideas before submitting your proposal package if that would be helpful.
We look forward to hearing from you about important topics the field should be discussing! If you have any questions, please contact TCQ editor in chief Tracy Bridgeford at tbridgeford).
